Identity Programs
Girls Inc. Identity Programs are designed to help girls develop a strong, positive sense of self. The program focuses on building self-confidence, fostering independence, and promoting a healthy body image. These programs are implemented throughout the year during our after-school and summer camp programming. Key programs include:
Economic Literacy: A program that provides gifts with the skills and self-confidence they need to contribute to the economy and make strong, smart, and bold decisions about their financial futures. Girls learn how to budget, save, take informed financial risks, and avoid feeling intimidated about money.
Discovery Leadership: A program that helps build leadership skills and create lasting social change by partnering girls and women in community action projects.
Friendly PEERsuasion: A Substance Abuse Prevention Program for Girls ages 11-14.
Operation SMART: An informal education program designed to stimulate girls’ interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. Encourages girls to become involved in the process of inquiry — question, explore, discover, and take risks.
Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy: A program that encourages the development of skills, insights, values, personal tools, peer support, and information to prevent adolescent pregnancy.
Sporting Chance: A response to girls clamoring for more sports opportunities; provides quality sports involvement and systematic skiff building for girls of all ages.
Project Bold: A comprehensive, research-based program to help girls and young women avoid, address, and cope with violence.
Media Literacy: A program that encourages girls to think critically about media images and messages, fostering their awareness of the power of the media and its effects on girls and women.
